Cultivated in the flourishing neighborhood of Brooklyn, Wilsen is an upcoming music trio created by 24-year-old London native Tamsin Wilson. Schooled at Berklee’s College of Music in Boston, Tamsin’s move to the East Coast was a step into the unknown. Alongside bandmates Johnny Simon Jr and Drew Arndt – both songwriters & producers in their own right – Wilsen’s music is meticulously sculpted over time to create a mood and state of mind. It wasn’t until chance meetings with Simon Jr and Arndt at Berklee that the young songwriter was urged to explore her creative muse, immersing herself in the songwriting of Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, and Sufjan Stevens. Drew Arndt’s rhythmic basslines and Simon Jr’s minimalist guitar melodies create the perfect platform for the earthy vocals of Tamsin Wilson. Their music shares a creative affinity with the timeless textures of European dream pop. A self-recorded/ released mini debut album ‘Sirens’ coincided with the trio’s decision to relocate to New York City in the spring of 2012. The debut album showcased the warmth of Tamsin’s voice and their ability to move effortlessly between post-rock crescendos and the intimacy of gentle rock. The word gradually began to spread about their music which lead to BBC 6 Music plays, Amazing Radio playlists, and more. With their upcoming highly anticipated ‘Magnolia’ EP on the way, we wanted to share the title-track from the project which can be streamed below:
