If you’re an automotive enthusiast like me, you’ve got many reasons to be excited right now. There have been numerous exciting new car reveals over the past few months, and it’s clear that 2015 is the year of the performance vehicles. Here are some new models that everyone should check out:
1) 2015 Ford Mustang
The next chapter in the life of the iconic pony car begins with the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang. Despite it’s new shape, it’s still unmistakably Mustang.. with a modern retro twist. And for 2015, Ford has finally addressed the weak spots in the old platform, namely the suspension and the interior quality. The new Mustang features an all-new integral-link independent rear suspension, while the interior of the vehicle gets a complete overhaul, boasting the highest degree of craftsmanship ever found in a Mustang.
As for the reports that Ford would be replacing their cherished 5.0L V8 with an EcoBoost engine, that was nothing more than random Internet speculation. While the Mustang is available with a new 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that produce more than 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, both the V6 and V8 engines from the previous generation are carried over and upgraded for 2015. So whether you’re looking to leave a smaller carbon footprint or a smoky burnout, there’s a Mustang available that’s right for you!
2) 2015 Audi S3
Audi’s upcoming S3 sedan is the ultimate sleeper, with very subtle styling queues that separates it from it’s A3 derivative. The big difference between the A3 and S3 lie under the hood. The Audi S3 is powered by a 290-hp 2.0-liter turbo four that quickly puts the power to the ground thanks to it’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. Add in the small and lightweight nature of the car (its front fenders and hood are made from aluminum), and you’ve got the little pocket rocket that driving enthusiasts have been clamoring for.
Personally, I think they nailed it with the S3. It’s a great looking car inside and out, it should perform like nobody’s business, it’ll seat four somewhat comfortably, and it’s slated to start at just under $40K. What more could you ask for? This is one car definitely worth checking out when it’s released this fall.
3) 2015 Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe
Jaguar knocked it out of the park last year with the Jaguar F-TYPE convertible, a strikingly beautiful car with the performance chops to back it up. And for their next act, they gave the F-TYPE a hardtop, creating a coupe version that’s even sexier than the original.
The all-aluminum F-TYPE Coupe is the most dynamically capable, performance-focused sports car Jaguar has ever produced, and it’s available in three versions – F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and the F-TYPE R. The base supercharged V6 engines put out 340- and 380HP respectively, while the 5.0L supercharged V8 engine puts out 550HP, delivering blistering acceleration to 60mph in 4.0 seconds, and a top speed of 186mph. The base F-TYPE Coupe starts at $65,000, while the top-of-the-line F-TYPE R Coupe starts at $99,000. The car will start hitting dealerships in spring 2014.
4) 2015 Lexus RC F
When the Lexus RC Coupe was unveiled last November in Tokyo, people were drooling. Never before has Lexus made a car so bold and provocative. But the one thing missing from the RC was a top-of-the-line model that could go head-to-head with the likes of BMW’s M4 and Mercedes-Benz’s CLA45 AMG. Until now.
Introducing the RC F, performance in it’s most aggressive form. Boasting the most powerful V8 performance ever developed by Lexus, the RC F 5.0L engine pumps out over 450 hp and over 383 lb-ft of torque. This vehicle is built to intensify exhilaration…from the asphalt up!
5) 2015 Corvette Z06
The 2014 Corvette Stingray is a triumph of design and engineering. But Chevrolet didn’t stop there. With advanced technologies, a race-proven bloodline and a supercharged engine, the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 launches Stingray into supercar territory.
Created to elevate the driving experience to the next level, the Corvette Z06 was engineered to be lightweight and rigid with an aluminum space frame, carbon-fiber hood and removable carbon-fiber roof panel. It was also designed to be powerful, with a supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering at least 625 HP and 635 lb.-ft. of torque. And for the first time ever, the 2015 Corvette Z06 features a removable carbon-fiber roof panel, allowing Z06 owners to enjoy an open roof for the first time!
So as you can see, automakers from all over the world are hard at work developing world class vehicles for automotive enthusiasts like us. It’s a great time to be a gear head!
